Drug network allegedly linked to outlaw motorcycle gangs

A POLICE task force has closed down an alleged methylamphetamine supply network, executing search warrants on addresses across south-east Queensland including two OMCG clubhouses and premises in Burpengary and Caboolture.

The tactical phase of Operation Juliet Mission was led by State Crime Operations Command's Task Force Hydra with assistance provided by investigators from the North Coast, Metropolitan North, Metropolitan South and the South Eastern policing regions and Operations Support Command. Assistance was also provided by personnel from Australian Customs and Border Protection Service and Queensland Corrective Services.

The operation specifically targeted people with identified links to the Bandidos Outlaw Motor Cycle Gang and Lone Wolf Outlaw Motor Cycle Gang chapters on the Sunshine Coast and North Brisbane and allegedly involved in the supply and production of illicit substances, specifically methylamphetamine.

So far today, police have executed more than 24 search warrants at residential and business premises (including two OMCG clubhouses) in Pine Rivers, Caboolture, Burpengary, Sunshine Coast, Brendale and Hervey Bay.

Acting Detective Superintendent Garry Watts of the Organised Crime Group said this operation is just one the strategies undertaken by the Service to target the criminal activities of those associated with outlaw motorcycle gangs and to reduce the impact of illicit drugs in Queensland.

"This operation clearly demonstrates that we will continue to seek out and prosecute any members of an OMCG and their associates involved in the production and or distribution of illicit drugs. We also have a particular interest in targeting the assets which they derive from their illegal activity.

"We are committed to disrupting and dismantling these criminal networks and will continue to implement strategies to minimise both the threat OMCGs pose to the community and the risk of dangerous drugs reaching our streets," he said.

So far today, police have seized drugs, approximately $100,000 cash and 15 firearms. Investigations are ongoing.

Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.

Crime Stoppers is a charitable community volunteer organisation working in partnership with the Queensland Police Service.
