THE No Blasted Quarry fight team will hold a community forum on Sunday to try to stop a hard rock quarry being built at Yandina Creek.
In October last year Sunshine Coast Council refused an application by Parklands Blue Metal to exploit the site to produce up to 500,000 tonnes of the hard rock resource, diorite, annually for 50 years.
The company has appealed.
The community forum, to be held at 3pm at the Coolum Beach Christian College, will be attended by Cr Steve Robinson and Nicklin MP Peter Wellington.
Organisers are urging residents of both the hinterland and coastal towns - "and anyone using the Yandina-Coolum Rd" - to attend.
They claim there will be one quarry truck every five minutes on Yandina-Coolum Rd and 87 tonnes of carcinogenic dust in the air every year for the next 50 years.
