A MASSIVE supermoon rose over Queensland skies last night and there were some stunning views from the Darling Downs.
A supermoon is the coincidence of a full moon or a new moon with the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit.
The result is the largest apparent size of the moon as seen from earth.
Technically it's called a perigee-syzygy of the Earth-Moon-Sun system.
Chris Gilchrist took a stunning photo of the supermoon as it was rising from his vantage point in Warwick.
Photographers were quick to chronicle the amazing phenomenon.
