Red-belly black finds new home in hedge

A RED-BELLY black snake appears to have made its home in the hedge of one of Coolum Beach Holiday Park's permanent residents.

The park manager has contacted the council which said it could not do anything about it as it is a protected species and has to be in the dwelling before the snake catcher can be called.

Yaroomba snake catcher Robin McLeod said he had tried to catch the snake a couple of weeks ago but as he approached it slithered away under a concrete slab.
