Surf rescue after men swept up in rip

FOUR men were swept out to sea in a rip after a sandbank on which they were standing collapsed within the flagged area at Marcoola Beach on Tuesday.

Lifeguard Zsolt Dallos radioed for help from nearby Discovery Beach before rescuing the first three men, including New Zealand tourist Clint Ford who had swum out to help.

Mr Dallos got the three back to shore by the time the Discovery Beach lifeguard made it to Marcoola. The lifeguards then rescued the other two men on the jet ski.
