Skydiving record breakers

IS it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's... Coffs City Skydivers!

Prepare to be amazed this week when dozens of forms fly the skies over the Coffs City Skydivers Drop Zone in Aviation Drive as their second annual Afterlife Boogie event kicks off.

This year the five-day event is set to put Coffs Harbour on the map as one of the leading cities in the country for wingsuit flying, as dozens of local and international experts will be joining together to break the Australian wingsuit record.

“There is an unofficial record in Australia of 11 - so first we're going to try for 12, then 13 and 14 and just keep going,” event organiser Lawrence Hill said.

While the festivities kick off tomorrow the open day this Saturday is set to be a major highlight of the event.

“We'll have so much going on,” Lawrence said.

“StarFM will be broadcasting live, there'll be jumping castles and face painting and marquees with food, plus we'll have 20 people jumping out of planes every 20 minutes.”

In another Australian first, Be There Live will be streaming live, real-time footage from the sky to the ground - which means you can see exactly what the skydivers are seeing as they jump on massive screens on the ground.
