SPECIAL night-time public transport services have been expanded during December for Christmas revellers.

Transport Minister Rachel Nolan on Thursday announced extra services for Friday and Saturday nights to take the pressure off taxi services during the party period.

She said NightLink buses, staffed by security guards, would run every half hour from Friday, December 4 to Saturday, December 19, instead of hourly.

More flat-fare taxis would also be available, beginning at the earlier time of 10pm to 5.30am on Friday and Saturday nights throughout the month.

And night train services on the Beenleigh, Caboolture and Ipswich lines will remain.

Ms Nolan said more than 15,000 people made use of the services each month.

"With the festive season approaching we are about to receive another patronage spike but we are well prepared for the late night influx," she said.
