Divisional prize winners at the Coolum Boardriders presentation day.
Coolum Boardriders held their presentations on Sunday, December 20 at the Surf Club. Good food, some cold drinks and a chat were the perfect ingredients to end a classic summer weekend.
Shane Doyle surfed well all year and by earning five first placings won the open men’s title.
The under-16 cadet champion Kelly Norris not only took out that title but also beat Michael Cox in the last heat of the year to take out the under-18 division trophy.
Sophie Callister’s late charge secured the open women’s title topping off a very competitive year for her.
Meanwhile in the over-28s senior division Mark Kennedy’s consistency throughout the year secured him the title.
Local up and comer Kirra Green pipped Davey Wallace in the grommet under-14 division while Peter McNamara and Mick Grace shared the honours in the over-40s masters for the year.
The under-12 novice division winner was Tylah Little with four first places throughout the season and finally, in the junior girls’ Jaleesa Vincent dominated the field for a well deserved first place. Kelly Norris also had some excellent results on the Queensland and New South Wales junior circuits to win the rookie of the year award. Most improved cadet was awarded to Daniel Grace. Michael Cox picked up the most improved junior surfer.
Michael’s rating this year jumped from 17 to 2 due to some inspired surfing and Davey Wallace showed plenty of potential to take the most improved grommet award.
Club Spirit awards were presented to tireless workers on competition days Beau Wallace and Daniel Maudsley. Boardrider of the year went to the quiet achiever Mark Kennedy.
The Williams family were presented with an appreciation certificate for their donation of a timer and siren system through their business Skirmish.
