NEXT time you feel an impulse coming on – head for the local newsagent and scratch-it.
There are $1,100,000 good reasons why.
And if you happen to be in Noosa so much the better – it really pays off with a second customer in two weeks hitting a rich vein of luck.
This time it was an impulse buyer from out west who bought a scratch-it from Tewantin News in Poinciana Avenue and eventually became $100,000 better off.
And this followed on from last week’s incredible stroke of luck when a young mum bought one ticket for her relative and one for herself at Noosa Civic News.
When the surface was scratched away it revealed a $1 million Set For Life windfall to be paid in $250,000 instalments over four glorious years.
Tewantin newsagent Richard Rudlege said the Darling Downs retiree was not exactly in a rush to see if he had won a prize. He waited until he drove home before did the deed of scratching away.
And first off he’d thought he’d won $1000.
"There was a little bit of jumping and screaming when we realised what we’d won,” the lucky man said.
And while plans to share the win with his family, newsagent Richard playfully said he’d smacked the fingers of the staff member for letting that one get away from the Coast
The reaction of the $1 million mum was: “As I was scratching the ticket, I was thinking how good it would be to win, because the extra money would make things easier right.”
Richard said he seriously loves seeing people’s eyes light up when the come into some serious money – like the syndicate that won $240,000 in Oz Lotto from a ticket sold at Tewantin.
The Coast has been a hotbed of lucky so and so’s of late.
Big winners in February were a grandmother at Glasshouse Mountains who won $2 million on Oz 7 Lotto and the other was a semi-retired man from Nambour who won $1 million in Oz Lotto.
Don't forget to pick up your Sunshine Coast Daily in the newsagent - it's going to be a long, wet weekend - perfect for a good read - and your chance to win $10,000 with your favourite newspaper.
