Coolum High drama students Saatchi Siri, Telita Coyle, Freia Beattie, Bailey Philippa and Danika Roseberry take part in the Zen Zen Zo theatre company workshop.
Coolum High Year 12 drama students have been challenged and inspired by a recent workshop with members of the Brisbane-based Zen Zen Zo physical theatre company.
Founded in 1992, the company, which specialises in contemporary performance and training, creates visually stunning and physically extreme theatrical experiences.
School drama teacher Carla Edgar said the workshop encompassed literal and abstract interpretation, focus and energy, and the creation of physical theatre.
“The aim of this workshop, and a follow-up session in early March is for our senior drama students to add to their established skills in interpretation, creation and direction in preparation for their first piece of performance assessment,” Ms Edgar said.
“This performance assessment will be a section of script from William Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth, incorporating physical theatre aspects.
“The workshops are both challenging and inspirational to the students.”
