Stars in doubt for the Titans

GOLD Coast Titans coach John Cartwright will name his first choice semi-final squad today but will be sweating on a Thursday morning fitness test that could force changes.

There are question marks over veterans Luke Bailey (hand) and Preston Campbell (hamstring), along with playmaker Scott Prince, who injured his shoulder in last Friday’s 13-12 victory over Wests Tigers.

Front rower Brad Meyers also pulled up sore and did not train with the squad yesterday and lock Ashley Harrison broke his nose in the physical match.

While Prince declared himself a certain starter against the New Zealand Warriors, Bailey and Campbell aren’t quite as confident.

Speaking at the club’s Centre of Excellence yesterday, Prince said his shoulder was feeling much better than it did last Saturday morning.

“In the game, I thought ‘what have I done?’ and came straight off the field,” Prince said.

Some strapping and a pain-killing injection got him back on the field and he will do the same this Friday night.

Although it will be uncomfortable, he can’t do any more damage to the shoulder.

Prince knows the Warriors will throw some of its bigger boys at him but he wouldn’t play if he thought he would be a liability. “It was going to be like that anyway. Most teams run at the smaller guys on the edges, so it will be no different.”
