The Peregian Beach boat crews are ready for round two of the AussieBum Series.
FOR the first time in more than 10 years surf boat competition returns to Peregian Beach on Saturday for Round 2 of the Australian Surf Rowers League AussieBum Queensland Cup.
After Queensland’s summer of misery disrupted the middle of this year’s surf rowing season, organisers are confident surf and weather conditions will be favourable.
Peregian crews, with sweep Mick Gardner, will be looking to build on their success at the Gold Coast last month, when they finished second in the under-23 men’s and third in the reserve grade men’s divisions.
Coolum finished third and fifth respectively in the Masters Men Over 200 and Masters Men Under 200 events.
Racing begins at 8am on Saturday with finals held mid-afternoon, conditions permitting.
The surf boats return to Coolum on Saturday, March 12 for the Queensland Cup final and on March 13 for the ‘Best of the Best’ event.
