AFTER more than 40 years, the name SurfAir will disappear from the Marcoola landscape.

SurfAir owners, the Wyndham Hotel Group, announced this week the resort would be rebranded as the Ramada Hotel and Conference Centre.

Wyndham's South Pacific managing director Barry Robinson said the rebranding was part of the group's "continued expansion" of Ramada hotels in the South Pacific region.

Mr Robinson said the move to rebrand the property to Ramada, one of Wyndham Hotel Group's 15 brands worldwide, demonstrated the group's long-term commitment to Australia and the Sunshine Coast as a leading destination for both the business and leisure traveller.

The Sunshine Coast had seen a boom in business travel over the last 12 months and with Marcoola Beach situated close to the Sunshine Coast Airport the internationally renowned Ramada brand could offer premier conference facilities and accommodation in one location.

The resort offers a mix of hotel rooms and apartments, conference rooms from ballroom to boardroom and onsite facilities including a swimming pool, gymnasium, bar and restaurant.

General manager Damien Keenan said the "strength and reputation" of the Ramada brand was a welcome addition to the area.
