COOLUM saw one of the most successful Kellogg's Nutri-Grain events in recent times.

A bird’s eye view of Coolum during the Nutri-Grain Ironman Series.

LAST weekend saw one of the most successful Kellogg's Nutri-Grain events in recent times.

Both as a live spectator and as a viewer of the telecast, it was very easy to be proud of the effort the whole town put into hosting the event.

Mother Nature blessed us this year with picture perfect conditions, with the climax of the IronMan finish capping off a full day of exciting racing.

Congratulations to all our Sunshine Coast competitors and good luck this weekend at Noosa.

Thanks to the following for their valuable assistance and support.

Brett from Ken Mills Toyota for the loan of a second Hi-Lux ute.

Stuart and Gary from Coles Coolum Village who organised the fruit for the nipper Breakfast with the Stars on Saturday morning and lunches on Sunday.

The excess fruit was accepted by Coolum State School and Coolum Meals on Wheels.

Also thanks to Maleny Dairies who along with some lively and entertaining stand-up cows, donated the milk for the Kelloggs Nutri-Grain breakfast.

Mostly, a huge thank-you to all those members who donated their valuable time both in the lead up during and after the event.

Without your assistance this event would not happen. Let's hope we get the nod again for next year's series.

Summer Surf Girl

THANKS to all who supported the club last weekend through purchases of the breakfast barbecue on Saturday and the snow cones and ice-creams on Sunday.

The Summer Surf Girl calendars are now half price at $5 each, and with 11 months still left they are a great gift item. They are available from the surf club reception.

Surf sports

THE club's best board riders compete this weekend at Dicky Beach in the state board riding championships.

Coach Steve Stockley has assembled a strong team to compete and we should see some fantastic results.

This weekend also sees the boat rowers competing at Peregian Beach in the next round of the AussieBum series. Good luck to our three teams competing.

Congratulations to all the nippers who competed at last weekend's under-11 to under-14 branch championships and good luck to all those competing this weekend in the under-8 to under-10 branch titles.

Nipper News

What an amazing weekend. Around 20 Coolum Beach Nippers were treated to a Board training session with Ironwomen Hayley Bateup and Kirsty Holmes on Saturday morning.

Hayley gave the Nippers some great tips for their race starts, turns and finishes and they all had a great time.

Nine of our nippers missed out on hanging out with the ironmen and ironwomen on the weekend as they had the honour of representing our club in the U11-14 Branch Championships at Dicky Beach. Brendan Cush (U11) and Jordan Creighton (U14) competed in the ironman event on Saturday and then backed up on Sunday to compete with U11 teammates John Downes, Rana Dickson, Jayde Turner and U12 teammates Jade De Gioia, Shaynia Beale, Josh Duncan and Bryn Nahrung.

All but two made it through to finals across various disciplines with our best results being in the U12 Beach Flags where Jade finished fifth and Josh seventh.

A fantastic effort by all and some great results for some of the team members who were competing for only the first or second time. Well done.
