Coolum’s Linc Parsons smashed 55 off 49 balls against Grammar.
COOLUM under-15 Jets took on Caboolture in their last road trip for the season.
Coolum started well, with Dom and Lane restricting runs and picking up two of the top order batsmen.
They were then well supported by Blake, Callum, and Trent, who all bowled efficiently but without luck.
At the end of the innings, with Caboolture at 9/230 after 55 overs, the Jets were chasing their highest score of the season.
After a steady start, Coolum lost their opening batsmen and then three top order batsmen fell for only five runs.
At this stage Caboolture probably thought victory was in the bag but cometh the hour, cometh the man.
Doug came in at number six and suddenly fours and sixes were the order of the day as he added 66 to the total and sent the Caboolture fielders to all points of the boundary.
Alex, who opened and batted well, was dismissed for 20 shortly after Doug went and the Jets finished the day at 9/127.
Next week the Jets are playing their fundraising Glen McGrath game at home and they will need an outright win to have any chance of playing in the finals.
After another very convincing win last weekend, the Coolum under-13s finished on top of the competition, guaranteeing them a spot in the semi-finals.
Set a target of 145 by SC Grammar, the Coolum boys, despite an early fright, ended up with 7/218.
The main instigators were man of the match Zane Sweeney (36 off 39 balls) and an awesome display from "The Man" Linc Parsons, who smashed 55 off 49 balls.
Michael Massoni also contributed with a well-timed 18 not out.
With an hour left on the clock, Coolum sent Grammar back in, and managed to get another four well-deserved wickets for 68 runs, Linc again doing the damage with 2/7.
Coolum coach Chris Aldridge said he was very pleased with everybody's commitment and improvement as the team was changing from a team of champions to a champion team.
Coolum under-10 Lightning played Yandina at Nambour.
Thank you to all the players for the big effort with only five players this week.
There were some big hits from Zen and Tom, and wickets taken by Jack, Tom, and Zen.
