Firefighter killed while fighting pub blaze in Cobar

A NEW South Wales firefighter has been killed battling a pub fire in the state's west.

The officer was attending a fire in Cobar on Sunday afternoon when a wall collapsed.

It is believed he went into cardiac arrest.

He was rushed to Dubbo Base Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Another firefighter was also injured tackling the fire and was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

NSW Emergency Services Minister Stuart Ayres offered his condolences to the man's family, friends and fellow firefighters.
