Coolum colts set for grand final

The Coolum Colts are grand-final bound for the second time in two years.

The Coolum boys were outstanding in the grand-final qualifier against Yandina at Pomona last Saturday, running out winners 28-12.

The Colts were dominant from the opening whistle and never gave the Yandina team any opportunities.

After dominating early, Colts scored three brilliant tries to take a 16-4 lead at half time.

The team was positive and upbeat at half time and continued its enthusiastic start with another two tries early in the second half to skip away to a 28-4 lead.

Man of the match Jay McCarthy put in an outstanding performance but said the whole forward pack deserved credit for the win.

The Coolum Colts play the Beerwah-Hinterland Bulldogs for the Red Rooster Cup this Sunday at Burnie Foley Oval, First Avenue, Bribie Island.

■ Tries: Jesse Shearer 2, Darren Polla-Mounter 2, Dean Morgan.

■ Goals: Drew Cantle 4/5.
