Coolum wins grand final replay

The Coolum Colts made it three on the trot in the rugby league grand final replay on the weekend, defeating Yandina 42-16.

Player of the match Dean Jessop was a stand-out with three tries.

The Colts started strongly, with tries to Jessop and Jesse Shearer before silly penalties allowed Yandina to claw their way back into the match.

But the Coolum boys were never headed, with strong games from all the forwards providing a good platform for the team.

Coolum captain-coach Nathan Ratcliffe said he was pleased with the effort from all the players and hoped the improvement continued over the coming weeks.

The win continues the good start to the season for Coolum, who apart from being undefeated already have the pre-season trophy in the cupboard.

With new sponsors on board this year, things are looking good for the Colts in 2009.

The club thanks sponsors, Pacific Office Solutions, Peregian Beach Hotel, Peregian Butchery, Coastal Energy, United Tools and Peregian Springs (FKP).

Tries: D Jessop 3, N Hewton 2, J Shearer & L Ramoir 1. N Ratcliffe 7 goals.
