COOLUM will host some of the country's best riders in the business at the MX Nationals this weekend.

The MX is the pinnacle of motorcycle racing in Australia and regarded as the most prestigious motocross championship in the country.

The championship consists of 10 rounds across five states.

The competition attracts the most talented Australian motorcyclists and also some of the best international riders throughout the season.

The nationals also plays host to plenty of local riders who enter individual rounds throughout the year when the series travels to their home towns.

With more than 100 entries per round of the championship, the MX Nationals brings with it a loyal band of fans of more than 700,000 followers on Facebook and 20 team trucks.

The nationals prides itself on being a town economy booster and true tourist attraction. Action starts this Saturday at Coolum Pines MX Track, off Quanda Rd, and concludes on Sunday.
