Sporting groups mourn Mr Cricket after grader death

THE Central Queensland sporting community is reeling after the loss of long serving cricket administrator Gordon Ralphs.

Mr Ralphs, 72, died yesterday when his Australia Post van crashed into a grader at roadworks on Baralaba Theodore Rd.

A Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.

Mr Ralphs was a long-serving member of the Callide Dawson Cricket Association, Central Queensland Cricket Inc Board, North Queensland Cricket Alliance and Queensland Country Cricket Association.

CQCI Secretary Greg Michel said Mr Ralphs was the heart and soul of the Callide Dawson Cricket Association.

"Sooty had become a great mate of mine through our involvement in CQ and NQ Cricket and he will be sorely missed by both of those organisations but especially by the Callide Dawson Cricket Association of which he was still the President," Mr Michel said.

"He was a life member of the Callide Valley Cricket Association, CQ Cricket, North Queensland Cricket and QCCA.

"My thoughts and the thoughts of the cricket community/family are with the Ralphs family at this extremely sad time."
