Good times roll for nippers
THE nipper break-up, presentations and AGM were all held last Sunday.
Our nippers and their families had a great time skating and rollerblading at Caloundra Rollerdrome.
It was great to see some of our nipper parents dust off their skates and join in the fun.
Presentations were held back at the clubhouse and I would like to say a big congratulations to all of our age champions and runners-up, encouragement award winners and perpetual award winners.
Silver sponsor Gaye Williams, from The Shop, made a kind gesture to all the nippers whose parents attended the nipper AGM last Sunday by offering a free ice cream to each of them wearing a nipper club t-shirt.
The entire shop was full of appreciative nippers. It looked like an invasion of red soldier crabs had descended on the shop.
Thanks Gaye for your continued support of the nippers and the Coolum Beach Surf Life Saving Club.
Congratulations to all of the nippers who donned the red cap to represent Coolum Beach at the various surf lifesaving and board riding carnivals throughout the season.
I would like to publicly say a big thank you to all of the volunteer committee members, age managers, water safety, coaches, trainers, assessors, officials, barbecue team, uniforms co-ordinator, carnival nominations co-ordinator, photographers, fundraisers and all of the other parents, surf club members and staff who helped out during the season. It is your time and effort that ensured we had a fantastic season in 2011-2012.
Thank you to our sponsors as well.
I'm pleased to say that we have filled most of our key committee and volunteer positions for next season.
There are still a couple of age manager positions vacant so please give some consideration as to whether you may be able to help out in one of these roles.
I will hold an age managers' course prior to the start of the season.
I am also hoping to hold a surf rescue certificate course either before, or early in, the season as well.
I would encourage parents of competitive nippers to do this course so you can contribute to our water safety requirements.
Please keep an eye on the website and the nipper noticeboard over the break for more details and let the admin team know if you are interested.
All that is left now is for the committee and I to purchase some new equipment in preparation for the next season.
I've had a great time during my first season as junior activities chairwoman and I look forward to doing it all again next season.
Make sure you keep your swimming up over winter.
