Hot bed of controversy at mines

MINERALS aren't the only source of riches driving regional Queensland's fly-in, fly-out workforce, with touring sex workers also reportedly cashing in on the resources boom.

But the surge in numbers of both buyers and sellers of sex is presenting local accommodation providers with a unique problem.

Not all new arrivals are welcome at their inns.

Neroli Holmes, Deputy Commissioner of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Commission, says there has been an increase in the number of clashes between sex workers and accommodation providers reported to authorities.

And she said the issue was yet to be tested in court.
