Inside the fire zone: Coolum blaze devastation

STARTLING images are starting to emerge of the devastation caused by the Coolum bushfire.

Wildlife Rescue Sunshine Coast workers have entered the bushfire zone to inspect the damage and rescue any wildlife that may have survived the blaze.

The bushfire destroyed hundreds of hectares as it burnt out of control for three days.

Images posted on Wildlife Rescue Sunshine Coast's Facebook page this morning show a black, charred landscape and some dead wildlife.

"And so the walk begins in Coolum," the post reads.

There was support from followers of the group, with some thanking the workers for what they are doing.

"It'll be a hard walk," Caitlin Raynor wrote.

"You're doing a great thing. You may not save many but hopefully you'll be able to shorten the suffering of the injured."
