RACEVIEW residents have told how a stabbing victim screamed for help as he staggered down the street with blood pouring from multiple wounds.

The 20-year-old was attacked after two men stormed into his home on Brittany Crescent, Raceview, about 8pm Sunday.

After entering through an unlocked front door, at least one of the men stabbed the victim repeatedly in the chest, stomach and arms, causing severe internal injuries which later required surgery.

As his attackers fled in what was believed to have been a white Toyota Hilux, the wounded man limped out on to his front lawn and across the road to call out for help.

At least two neighbouring residents rang triple-0 – one of them offering a towel to the victim in an attempt to control the bleeding.

Police said the man had at least five stab wounds, two of which were serious.

Paramedics treated the man on the scene before rushing him to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

He was in a stable condition when he arrived at the hospital.

The bloodied towel and a large pool of blood were still visible on the front lawn of the house adjacent to the man's home yesterday morning.

Neighbours of the stabbing victim, who did not want to be named, said the worst of his wounds appeared to be on his upper chest and lower stomach.

Ipswich CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Mick Trezise said police were waiting for the man to recover from his operation before speaking to him.

“We believe there were two male offenders – at least one of them known to the victim,” Snr Sgt Trezise said.

One of the offenders was tracked down quickly after the incident.

A 30-year-old man of Hillcrest, near Logan, was charged with committing acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, plus entering a premises with intent.

He faced Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday, where he was allowed bail for the case to be heard again on August 31.

Police were yesterday hoping to lay charges against a second man believed to have been involved.

The weapon used was yet to be located.
