LISA Curry's partner says he hopes the three time Olympian shows more of her sensitive side in the South African jungle.

Curry's fiance, Elvis impersonator Mark Tabone, has watched every minute of her time on I'm A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!

"One thing I said to her before she went in was to make sure she shows Lisa as well as Coach Curry," Tabone said.

"That is the strong Lisa, she does a lot of boot camps and things, but there's obviously that really soft side to her and also a sensitive side."

Curry, 54, is one of our most recognisable athletes, having won 15 gold, seven silver and eight bronze international swimming medals. She competed at several Commonwealth Games, as well as the Moscow, Los Angeles and Barcelona Olympic Games.

She's one of 12 celebrities competing on the Channel Ten reality show and came to blows earlier in the series with Tom Arnold, over her job as deputy camp leader.

The American actor was eliminated from the competition on Sunday night.

"If you give Lisa a task, she will take it on by the horns," he said.

"She will take it very seriously and that is why she clashed a bit with Tom. She doesn't like to let people down so if you give her a task she will find the best way to get through and do it."

Curry has three kids with ex husband, fellow sportsman Grant Kenny.

On the personal front, Tabone said he and Curry are in no rush to get married.

"We haven't set a date yet," he said. "We are quite busy but I'm pretty sure we will keep it quiet, we don't want a big fiasco or carnival around it, we just want it to be intimate so we can enjoy it for what it is."

Tabone, 50, added that he won't be performing at their wedding, having sung at the couple's engagement.

"There definitely won't be an Elvis theme because even though I love Elvis and have for a long time, I don't want to be known just for that," he said.

Before going into the jungle, Curry told News Corp of her happiness at finding love again with Tabone.

"The last 18 months has been the best in my life, he's changed my life completely," she said.

"He is very calm, he's very kind and he's very soft and he has really brought that side back to me. Being an athlete you are loud, you're aggressive, you're strong and I've realised it is okay to be like that in sport but in life you don't need to be like that."
