AUSTRALIAN RULES: Noosa has won 14 of its past 15 outings but Maroochydore captain Daniel Dzufer is confident his side can topple the newly-crowned minor premier in looming finals.

The Tigers brushed aside cellar dweller Bond University 21.13 (139) to 1.2 (8) at the Gold Coast on Saturday to secure the regular season mantle after 17 of 18 rounds.

Meanwhile, the Roos accounted for finals hopeful and cross-town rival Caloundra 18.14 (122) to 12.9 (81) at Kuluin to secure second place on the ladder.

So there's a fair chance the arch-rivals will meet at some stage during the five-team play-offs.

"They've been the form team and they probably recruited two or three really solid players who have added to their playing list,” Dzufer said.

"They play fantastic at their home ground. They don't give away too much up there so they've been able to get on a really good winning streak and they're definitely the team to beat.

"But in saying that we're pretty confident we can get over the line against them.”

The likes of Jason Ainsworth, Lochie Land and Harry Wilson played starring roles for the Roos during the weekend, with the latter keeping Tom Rudolph to three goals.

The result assured the side of a qualifying final clash with third-placed Springwood at Fishermans Road in a fortnight.

"We set a goal to get a home final and to be able to have one is something we're pretty happy about,” Dzufer said. "We're looking forward to giving the supporters something to cheer about in that one.”

A win there should ensure a major semi-final against the Tigers in enemy territory.

"We'll head up the road to Noosa, if we get the chance, and will go up there pretty confident we can come away with a win,” he said.

Maroochydore is at full strength in the run towards the south-east Queensland division one post-season after utilising 46 players during its campaign.

"We're pretty settled with our team and we're all starting to gel a bit better together,” he said.

Dzufer played for Caloundra as a junior but didn't do his old club any favours on Saturday.

The Panthers now sit on the the edge of the finals-bound top five, amid nine teams.

But ex-Brisbane Lions player Dzufer and his team-mates can help Caloundra by beating finals aspirant Yeronga South in the last round.

LADDER: Noosa 60, Maroochydore 52, Springwood 46, Caloundra 36, Coorparoo 36, Maybe 36, Yeronga South 236, Burleigh 20, UQ 14, Bond Uni 4.
