DANIEL Morcombe's parents Bruce and Denise have posted a heartfelt message of thanks to the thousands of people who have offered tributes to their son.
The Morcombe family said they wanted to acknowledge and thank the 'tens of thousands of people, right around Australia'' who had wished them well following the arrest of a man over Daniel's death.
Daniel's parents expressed renewed hope that Daniel's remains would be found as police and SES volunteers scoured swampy bushland in the Glasshouse Mountains.
They told media today they planned to visit the search site in the next day or so.
"We applaud the small army of ordinary people including SES volunteers and Crime Stoppers who have never given up,'' Bruce and Denise wrote.
Denise Morcombe told the Daily this morning she had been overwhelmed by the number of people who had posted messages on the Daniel Morcombe Foundation Facebook page.
The Morcombes said the amount of traffic on the official Daniel Morcombe Foundation page was about 100 times normal levels, causing it to crash.
BRUCE AND DENISE'S MESSAGE OF THANKS
THE extended family of Daniel Morcombe would like to acknowledge and thank the tens of thousands of people, right around Australia, who have wished us well with recent developments.
The charging of a man with Daniel's murder is a huge leap forward.
Now, more than ever, we are confident that Daniel's remains will be found.
In reaching this point, we do not underestimate how significant your ongoing interest and commitment to keeping
Daniel in the public consciousness for the past eight years has been.
That is truly extraordinary.
We thank the community of Australia and in particularly Queensland, for your ongoing support and assistance.
We applaud the small army of ordinary people including SES volunteers and Crime Stoppers who have never given up.
The Coronial Inquest has been crucial and we reserve a special thank you for all those involved.
To the many police who have dedicated the past eight years to find the answers for us, thank you.
Your professionalism and commitment was unwavering...
We continue to have updates from police about about going work but I am sure you understand that I am not at liberty to talk about that.
We are all very conscious that the matter is now before the court, and the last thing we want to do is influence that outcome.
The community work of Daniel Morcombe Foundation will continue.
It's dedicated committee and volunteers will ensure that programs and events aimed at educating children on how to keep safe and supporting young victims of crime make a difference.
These are positive aspects of Daniel's legacy.
You can make a difference on child safety.
Please join our campaign and participate in 'Day for Daniel' on Friday October 28.
