MyOnlineClinic app puts doctors at your fingertips
WHEN you or someone in your family are feeling unwell, trying to get an appointment with your doctor or waiting for a home doctor to arrive can be stressful.
Smartphone app, MyOnlineClinic is a government funded initiative connecting patients with doctors for free.
The app allows patients to select their preferred professional and make a booking at any time of the day or night.
Training and development officer Gordon Lawler said the app was easy to use and allowed patients to share and save their medical history.
"When you download the app on your phone the patient registers, fills in their details and are able to log in.
"When they require a doctor, they go into the app and request a teleconsult with an available doctor,” he said.
"Within an hour the doctor will have a teleconsult with the patient. Based on the condition of the patient, the doctor can have a script sent to the pharmacy of choice for the patient to collect.”
The government funded initiative is free for patients until the end of June across the Sunshine Coast area including Bongaree, Caboolture and Buderim.
"It's a fantastic drive, it's bringing medicine to another level,” Mr Lawler said.
"We want as many patients to take advantage of it to see how it works - six or seven years down the track it will be the norm when we want to see a doctor.”
