Nippers lap up lessons

COOLUM'S under-6 and under-7 Green Caps were thrilled last Sunday when Summer Surf Girl entrant Kate Norman turned up at training to give them some water safety tips.

Kate talked to the budding lifesavers about surf awareness, signalling for assistance, recognising flags and getting out of rips.

The Jupiters Sumer Surf Girl campaign is all about raising awareness of, and funds for, vital surf lifesaving equipment.

Kate said her fundraising was going very well.

"I'm probably ahead of where I hoped to be by Christmas, so I'm very happy."

Summer Surf Girl calendars, featuring beautiful Coolum views and landmarks, are available from the surf club, Friday Night Markets and selected Coolum retailers in Coolum for only $10 each.

Future fundraisers include a fun run, bowls day, golf day and surf club events.

Also on Sunday, Coolum under-8 to under-14 nippers competed in the annual club championships.
