UPDATE: TAYLA Swanson has 16 days to find a new venue to say "I do" to the love of her life.

Ms Swanson is one of many left reeling by the shock closure of popular Maleny wedding venue, Tranquil Park Resort.

She first received word of the closure on February 1 when her fiancé, Dominic Saure, received a letter from the administrator.

The couple had only paid the final installment on their deposit for the February 18 wedding in December.

They chose that venue, after getting engaged nine months ago, because of its view.

"It was a really nice venue, it had the backdrop we wanted," Ms Swanson said.

Now, instead of enjoying manicures and last minute preparations for the big day, the couple are "rushing around trying to contact people" to find a new venue.

Wedding celebrant Bill Scurry was also furious; if he had known the business had been struggling, he wouldn't have promoted it at last weekend's Bridal Expo at Twin Waters.

Questions are also being asked about why the business remained open so long when an administrator was appointed in mid-December.

A spokesman for KordaMentha restructuring told the Daily Robert Hutson and Rahul Goyal were appointed administrations of Blandise Pty Ltd (previously trading as Tranquil Park Resort) on December 15.

On January 27, the Federal Court ordered "the winding up of the company on the application of the Australian Tax Office".

"The liquidation was the trigger for the closure of the resort," the spokesman said.

"After the liquidation, it was clear the owners could not continue to trade the business and there would be no funds available to complete a renovation including works required under a Fire Safety Notice."

A plan to sell the business also "fell through" as the potential purchaser failed to produce the initial payment which would have helped pay for fire safety compliance works.

The spokesman said it wasn't unusual for businesses to stay trading after an administrator had been appointed.

"Many companies continue trading while in administration," he said.

"The biggest example of this at the moment is Arrium, a huge company.

"This is perfectly normal when there are prospects of the company being sold or being able to pay its debts when they are due.

"In this case, these prospects disappeared when the sale fell through and the Tax office forced a liquidation. This also meant there would be no money to pay for fire safety works.

"All correspondence from companies in administration must note the fact that administrator are appointed."

The liquidators were writing to creditors, including those who had paid deposits, to "offer help to apply for recovery of the deposits".

They were also making telephone calls to people with functions booked "to give them as much notice as possible".

"The liquidators are also offering to help find alternative venues for people with bookings," the spokesman said.

"The former owners and liquidators apologise for the inconvenience to all customers, but the priorities had to be public safety and compliance with their legal obligations as liquidators."

EARLIER: A popular Maleny wedding venue has shut its doors leaving brides out-of-pocket and in a scramble to plan their big day.

Tranquil Park, which lists itself for weddings, conferences, accommodation and as a restaurant is understood to have closed this morning.

Well-respected wedding celebrant Bill Scurry, posted about the business's demise on Facebook after he was woken up by a "bride and groom" who had a wedding booked at the destination in just over two weeks' time.

"Oops! Just got woken by my Bride and Groom, who are to be married in sixteen days time at Tranquil Park, Maleny," Mr Scurry posted.

"She is in tears, informing me that Tranquil Park has been closed down. This is so not right, for couples to find out so close to their wedding day."

Several businesses have already offered to come to the brides rescue and it is understood the Maleny RSL has also offered to help.
