SURFING: It seems the future of Sunshine Coast surfing is in good hands, with a string of impressive performances from the region's youngsters at the state junior titles.

Sunrise Beach's Amber Dods and Alexandra Headland's Alister Reginato claimed the under-18 girls and boys and crowns respectively at Coolum Beach.

As a result, they earned spots in the wildcard trials for next year's world tour event on the Gold Coast next year.

"It's been one of my biggest goals to get the Roxy Pro wildcard entry and it's something I've dreamed about since I was little," Dods said in an event press release.

She edged Coolangatta talent Piper Harrison in a four-girl final, which also included Mudjimba's Sasha Baker and Buderim's Sammy Lee.

"I'm really good friends with Piper and there's a lot of girls....that I know and we're all great friends, but when we're in the water we don't think about that, we just surf," Dods added.

Amid 1m-1.5m waves, the second and final leg of the state titles was well-contested.

Reginato clinched victory over Coolangatta's Jagger Bartholomew, Burleigh Heads' Maddy Job and Peregian Beach's Noah Stocca.

"I'm so stoked to get the wildcard spot and it was such a good event. Everyone's ripping up here and pushing each other further and further, must be something in the water," said Reginato.

An Australian representative at the recent International Surfing Association world junior championships in Japan, he snared some early wave scores in the final before staving off his rivals.

Buddina's Holly Williams has had a blistering season and this continued with victory in the under-16 girls division, while Elanora's Jay Occhilupo won the under-16 boys section.
