WHETHER you are in town for the Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival or simply trying to get around town while the week-long event is on, it will pay to know where you can and can't go.

With thousands of competitors expected to take to thoroughfares around the region, there will be a significant impact on traffic.

There will be plenty of closed roads while others are likely to be busier than usual.

No-go zones will include the Sunshine Motorway, Mooloolaba Esplanade, Alexandra Parade, Mooloolaba Road and Waylan Street while places like David Low Way could have traffic at a crawl.

Here's a guide to the closures below. Note that some closures start on a particular day and go for days.

If you need to use the Sunshine Motorway on Sunday morning, scroll to the bottom for preferred routes.

For those keen to check out the event, there's $10 parking available at Mooloolaba State School on Friday night, Saturday and from Sunday 4am (entry via Venning St). There's also a free shuttle bus service available from Mountain Creek High School and River Esplanade bus stop from Saturday 8am until 4.30pm and Sunday 4.30am until 5.30pm
