Seniors celebrate with a cake

WHAT is a celebration without a cake?

And that is just what the Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson brought along to celebrate Seniors Week with the Coolum Senior Citizens Club members on Monday.

Ms Simpson received a warm welcome from president Allan Choma and members of the group, which meets every Monday at the Coolum Civic Centre from 1.30-3.30pm to play bingo, indoor bowls, cards and Scrabble.

Ms Simpson said Seniors Week, from August 16-24, was a great opportunity for people of all ages to remember and celebrate the valuable contributions our older Queenslanders made to the community.

She said senior citizens were "the back-bone of many of our local not-for- profit groups as they volunteer their time, skills and experience".
