Showcasing best house in region

NOT only has this Peregian Beach house caught the eye of Australia's Best Houses executive producer and host Gary Takle, it's one of his favourites.

The crew from Channel 7 Two's Australia's Best Houses filmed an episode at 17 Peregian Esp, Peregian Beach, to air in January.

Rob McCready, construction director of Altum Constructions, said it was "quite humbling" for a nationally-recognised architecture critic to take interest in the house made by two Peregian businesses - Altum Constructions and Sparks Architects.

"I've seen the show and there are some amazing houses have been on it," he said.

"We were honoured he thought this house was not only good enough to be on the show, he's hosting the whole show from the house."

So, what's so special about this house?

"I think the way it settles nicely into the natural environment, it blends in - it doesn't compete with it," Mr McCready said.

"There was an old house there, built in the 1980s by Noosa mayor Noel Playford. We lived there for three years, until we demolished it and built this house. We got an appreciation for the environment."

Mr Takle said he came across the house while "sweeping the internet" to find amazing properties.

"This house stood out because of its amazing location on the side of the hill and its unique design," he said.

"It's a house that's very well designed proportionally. What we do find sometimes it will be a big house with massive rooms, that's a show-off house.

"This is understated, the rooms are proportioned smaller and more correct for people to live in.

"This would be on my favourite list. Rob's craftsmanship is fantastic. There are a lot of difficult elements for him to build - some of these amazing joins and curves are really quite outstanding.

"He's a very good builder."
