Sign-on looms for cricket club

BUDDING young batsmen and bowlers are invited to sign-on with the Coolum Cricket Club this Sunday between 10am and 1pm at the clubhouse behind the aquatic centre.

On the following Saturday and Sunday (August 20 and 21) from 10am-1pm both seniors and junior players will be able to register.

This season is expected to be a major one for the small club.

President Rod Chambers said he was delighted the new turf wicket was in place.

Mr Chambers said that with extra synthetic pitches at Coolum State School and Di Hurst Oval at Peregian, the club could now expand its number of teams.

Lights for the practice nets are being planned to allow practice to continue into the evenings.

This season under-10s will train on Mondays, under-11/12s on Tuesdays, under-13/14s on Wednesdays and seniors on Thursdays. Training starts at 4pm.

For more information on the club, visit the website www.coolum.com.au/cricket, email coolumcricket@westnet.com.au or phone 0402 330 882.
