IT'S a squad of 15 where any one player can come in at any given time and hold their own, but that doesn't create any extra pressure according to Australia opener Beth Mooney.

Australia has switched around its starting XI throughout the World Cup, including Rachael Haynes being called in to the side in place of Meg Lanning and taking over the captaincy on two occasions. And with a batting order that has WBBL openers and number threes at the tail end, Mooney said camaraderie releases pressure players may feel in trying to hold their spot in the team.

"There's different days where you feel like you've sort of let the team down a bit but I guess the good thing about this group is that everyone wants each other to do well and everyone enjoys everyone's success as well,” Mooney said.

"The group is in a really good space and everyone's really hoping everyone else does really well so I guess if you're looking out for your mate and looking out for yourself then the pressure doesn't become as big as it seems.”

Mooney made the decision a couple of years ago to focus on her batting as her avenue in to the national team because of Alyssa Healy being ahead of her as the first-choice wicket keeper.

And though she admits her fielding is probably an area she can still develop, she's pleased her position in opening the batting has allowed continued international selection.

"I've been really fortunate and had a lot of opportunities and a lot of faith given to me by the selectors and I think a couple of years ago I decided that the wicket keeping wasn't going to get me in the team so I really had to do something a bit different with my batting,” Mooney said.

"The opportunity to play any game for Australia is one I've really relished and hopefully that can continue for a long time but at the moment I'm really enjoying being a batter and whilst I'm not the greatest fielder I feel that's something I can work on as well.

"The other day probably wasn't my best game timing-wise but it's been really nice to put a few good performances on the board and just settle myself in to international cricket I guess; it's a bit daunting coming and not knowing whether you're good enough and things like that.

"The last, sort of, 12 months has been really nice to consistently perform and be a part of the team and part of the squads that get to tour as well.”
