Wilson set to face in-form wild-card at Margaret River
SURFING: World tour leader Julian Wilson is set to collide with in-form home-town competitor Kael Walsh at the Margaret River Pro.
Wilson is scheduled to have a round three clash with Walsh, after the event wild-card upset compatriot Matt Wilkinson in the world tour event at Western Australia on Sunday.
"I knew I'd have a good shot at matching it with the best so I wasn't really intimidated,” Walsh told World Surf League after the heat.
"I'm comfortable in the waves around home, and have got Jake Paterson in my corner, who has more knowledge than anyone over here.”
Peregian Beach's Wilson, who has battled a shoulder injury, isn't the only Sunshine Coaster at the famous break.
Keely Andrew is competing in the women's event.
She's poised for a must-win round two match-up with Malia Manuel after finishing last in her round one heat behind Stephanie Gilmore.
