Critical emergency care was administered by the rescue helicopter medical crew at the scene before the patient was flown in an unstable condition to the Mackay Base Hospital under full intensive care monitoring.

RACQ CQ Rescue air crewman Mark Donovan said the quick thinking of fellow tourists who commenced CPR and phoned '000' saved the young woman's life.
